Position Size Matters More Than Prediction

You do not need to win every trade to manage risk well.

Position sizing determines how much a single idea can affect your portfolio. Even a strong setup can become dangerous when the exposure is too large.

A basic risk-first process asks:

  • How much of the portfolio can be lost if the idea fails?
  • Where is the trade thesis invalidated?
  • How volatile is the asset?
  • Is leverage increasing the real exposure?
  • Are several positions dependent on the same market move?

Smaller, intentional sizing can preserve flexibility and reduce the pressure to make emotional decisions. Survival is a strategy too.
